Did you add the card to usb list like shown in lecture 11? If you did, then make sure that you don’t physically connect the card to the computer until Kali is fully booted, connect the card, then go to the devices menu (beside the file menu) >> USB >> Click your device.
If you’ve done all of the above then can you tell me the exact model of your wireless adapter please?
Also can you show me the result of ifconfig&lsusb&airmon-ng?

Aaargh, shame on me! Apparently I forgot to install VBox extensions and, thus, I had only USB 1.1 support available in my machine settings.
This was the root cause of the problem. It also caused some issues with another card but I found that disabling adapter under windows until Kali starts helps a lot.
Now both adapters work as hell without any tricks.

Sorry for bothering you with such stupid matters and help for great hints that were helpful to find the answer!

Hello,

Please try the following:

– Make sure you connect the adapter directly to the computer, don’t use a hub or an extension.

– Experiment with connecting it to a different USB port.

– Experiment with connecting the adapter before and after Kali fully loads (don’t forget to attache it from the device menu).

– Experiment with setting Virtual Box to use USB 2 and USB 3 from the usb settings window.

Hello Zaid, I am using your Kali image you provide on your website (actually link from udemy course) so I assume the drivers for AR8812AU should be fine. Especially if it is recognized correctly.
I am able to change the MAC and to put it into monitor mode. However when I run airodump-ng I can see mainly clianets, 95% of them are not associated with any bssid. In the AP section above I see only 2 or 3 items which is defnitely too little. There is no useful information provided as well. Seems airodump-ng has problems to detect APs and their bssids. The problem occurs on AR8812AU, on another single band adapter from alfa it works ok. SOrry if this topic has been covered somewhere – I am unable to find it. Any help on that?

If it’s working fine with airodump-ng add with the manual method them this is clearly a Fluxion issue.

Honestly tools like that fail a lot for no reason that’s why I show you how to do everything manually first so if the too fails you’ll still be able to run whatever attack you want manually.
I’d say submit an issue to their github and see if they know why its failing with this adapter.

As mentioned in the course requirements you need an external wireless adapter for the cracking lectures 11 to 28, you can do everything else without one though, just make sure you set Kali to use a Nat Network as shown in lecture 5 and skip the part where I add my external wireless card.
The built in card is not good for hacking, you need a powerful card that supports monitor mode and packet injection, I recommend anything with an Atheros or RTL8812AU chipset.

The wifi adapter, is not connecting to the wifi network.
Error message: Connection failed. Activation of network connection failed.

How can this be solved? The password used is right.

Hi Lucid,

Kindly follow these steps shown in the below source to set up properly your wireless adapter on Tails:
Enable a wireless device

You can also refer to the following once for more info:

If you still have issues with the wireless connection, then plug the adapter it into a different USB port on your PC, and try again to connect to the captive portal through the unsafe browser as shown in the lecture. Or use the Ethernet cable to connect Tails directly to the network.

Kindly note that USB devices can only be connected to only one machine at a time, so make sure that the wireless adapter isn’t attached to Windows first before you try to connect it to Tails.

Tails not showing WiFi adapter. It does recognize the wired connection I tried unplugging it and still not showing the adapter. I was trying to practice with captive portal but this is what is happening. Not sure if this matters but my windows OS wont recognize the wired Ethernet, I have been using my (Zaid recommended) WiFi adapter for internet on the windows system I am booting from tails (zip Drive)
Any Ideas?

Hi Warren,

To fix this just run the fake authentication WHILE airodump-ng is running against the target network as shown in the course, so run airodump-ng using the –channel and –bssid arguments against the target network, keep it running, and run the fake authentication from another terminal window.

For the ARP replay injection, try to re-enable monitor mode again:

ifconfig wlan0 down
airmon-ng check kill
iwconfig wlan0 mode monitor
ifconfig wlan0 up

Make sure that you’re on the right frequency band since the AWUS036ACH supports two bands:

airodump-ng wlan0
airodump-ng –band abg wlan0 (For 2.4 & 5Ghz networks)
airodump-ng –band a wlan0 (Only for 5Ghz networks)

In addition, try the following when you connect the adapter before you enable monitor mode:
– Experiment with connecting the adapter before and after Kali fully loads, and after you log in as root.
– Experiment with setting the adapter to use USB 2.0 and 3.0 in Kali system settings in Vbox.
– Make sure you connect the adapter directly to the computer, don’t use a hub or an extension.
– And experiment with connecting the adapter to different USB ports.

Last but not least, try to enable monitor using another method:

my name is warren i have been going through your course network hacking from scratch and all was well until i reached lesson 5.4 and 5.5
.
When i do a fakeauth it keeps returning “No such BSSID” available and i have to keep running the command over and over then eventually i will succeed. Is this normal??

Secondly when i do run a arpreplay after a while it stops sending the ARP packets and if i get a deauth packet received if i try to re-associate with the ap
I use both versions of kali linux 2019.4 and 2020.1. I get the above issues on both builds

My network adapter is Alpha AWUS036ACH

I have a question about running a network scan. After building the network scanner in your python course I wanted to test on multiple networks. With the internal wifi adapter connected to the target network I run into zero issues. When my internal card is connected to one network and my wifi adapter connected to the target network is when I am running into the problem. I am unable to gather the information when targeting the network the adapter is connected to. I know they are different because the adapter is is connected to a 10.0.0……network but the internal card in connected to a 192.168.1……network.

Do I need to add another arg.parse argument for the interface I want to use so I have the mobility to use the program from either? Or if network access has been gained through the adapter should I then switch my internal card to the same network. The second option does not seem best if trying to stay anonymous.

One more thing, the more I learn the more I ask because curiosity gets the best of me. When using the external wifi adapter on a target network, should the internal wifi card be “down” so it is not discoverable? Should all investigation and attacks be used with the external adapter so the MAC of the computer in use is not discoverable? Or, once access has been gained, should the internal card be used for investigation on the target network and the external card be used for attacks/payloads/etc?

I tried what you have said several times in different ways, but nothing happened. Formerly (several days ago) it was possible to get some information when I wrote ifconfig wlan0 on the terminal. But now it says: wlan0: error fetching interface information: Device not found. Thus, even this basic information now is not possible. As to the adapter, when trying to connect it from the Devices menu, it says: failed to attach the USB device.

Last week I bought the LAN adapter you had advised: AWUS036ACH.
