Hello my name is Nico, I have purchased the ‘Learn Network Hacking From Scratch’ course, and in section 3.2, ‘Connecting a Wireless Adapter To Kali,’ I am experiencing an issue with the VMWare USB Controller where the problem is ‘Maximum Limit Reached.’ So I can’t Add it. How can I resolve this issue? Please assist. Thank you.” (file capture attached).
Note: my wireless adapter type is ALFA AWUS036ACH WIDE RANGE AC1200 Type-C USB

Yes, as mentioned in the lectures use NAT for the virtual machines. If you want to connect kali to a real network then you’ll need a wireless adapter.
Did you change the adapter to NAT?

Using bridged adapter won’t work, as mentioned in the course set both to NAT network. And please share the full requested info.

If both virtual machines are running in different apps then the attack won’t work. In such case you would need to change the adapter to bridged in UTM and preferably use a wireless adapter for kali. If you use bridged adapter for both machines it might not work as expected at all, I meant you might experiment glitches or running the attacks many times for them to work.

Well, you need a wireless adapter because a mobile phone can’t connect to the virtual network created by VMware hence we need to connect kali to the real network and that’s the use of the wireless adapter. So, connect the adapter to the network and create a malicious APK using the ip of the wireless adapter interface (usually wlan0) as LHOST.

Why do i need to use a wireless adapter? The course says nothing about a wireless adapter.
Here the course tells you to create a malicious apkfile and then place it in your evil-files on your apache server.
And downloading it with a android device that is connected to the same network. I have a wireless adapter if needed.
Im failing to get the meterpreter session.

No, it’s not the adapter, the one that assigns the ips is the router. Yes, this is related to static ips. But each router is very different from each other so you’ll need to find that out yourself, use google to look for possible solutions with the exact router brand and model you have. Also, you call the ISP and ask them about it.

Hi Diego, thanks for that advice. I get the Script Editor issue…. I need to kill the process from Kali first. As for the IP drifting issue, I am not sure what you mean by “check it out”. I have looked at the settings for my router – it has a 2.4GHz, 5GHz-Low and 5GHz-High settings… and pages and pages of Network LAN, LAN DHCP, WAN, Bridge, DMZ, Dynamic DNS etc etc etc settings that I don’t quite understand. Is this an issue about setting up Static vs Dynamic IPs? Could you give me a bit more specific guidance with this… I feel a bit lost with the tech aspect of this device operation, and I am not very savvy with all the configuration options. Is this not a wifi adapter issue? Would using a different model adapter fix this problem?

Hello, I am now working in section 12 (MAC OSX Malware) and I have run into 2 issues… I am once again asking for guidance:
I am using an older MacBook as a target computer because I don’t have a virtual Mac OS installed in VMWare and Zaid said you can just use a wifi adapter on your network, so I am using a Realtek RTL8812AU purchased from your store. The problem I’m running into is that every so often the IP address for my adapter wlan0 changes… now every backdoor, every executable I have generated and is stored in my evil-files folder does not work anymore and I have to go back and regenerate new executables for everything. But then after a day or so the IP drifts to another value again making THOSE new executables inoperative, and I have to repeat the entire process all over again. I don’t know why this is happening but can you tell me of a way I can prevent this IP drift on my adapter and LOCK it in to a single value?
My second issue is when I have used the Script Editor on my target MAC to convert the script and save it as an Application… when I run it to test it everything works the way it should, but I am unable to stop it. I can’t close it, I can’t quit it, I can’t delete it… I keep getting a message saying that those operations can’t be done “because the file application is running”. There doesn’t seem to be any way of turning it off or stopping it from running once I start it – even after clicking any of the Play, Pause or Stop icons at the top of the editor’s box, or using any commands in the File or Edit dropdown menus. Basically the only thing I am forced to do to get out of it is to Force Quit the Editor entirely. Is there a simpler way to turn it off?

Also, for this attack to work you need a wireless adapter, do you have one?
Make sure that you’re using the same payload when generating the backdoor and when using multi handler, if you’re already doing that then try using a different port, if you’re still having issues then please show me the following please:
1. Result of ​ifconfig and route -n ​in Kali.
2. The ip of the phone.
3. The ​options used for generating the backdoor fatrat.
4. T​he result of ​show options ​before running the multi handler.​

Hello Diego, you are right the wifi pineapple mark 7 is not a wireless adapter. But this device comes with the mark7 and is called the mk7ac. And this is a wireless adapter. When in host machine i input iwconfig it reads the adapter and i can put it on monitor mode and run aircrack without any issues. The problem im facing is when i want to connect the adapter to the virtual machine, it wont disconnect from the host. Even when ifconfig down it wont connect to vmware. Could this be a popos issue….or is there some other command to disconnect from host? Thank you for your time

Well, that’s not a wireless adapter but a wifi Pineapple, in any case I suggest to ask to hak5 staff, they will know more about how to proceed. I haven’t used such device so can’t really tell.

Hello, i just installed popos as my main machine and installed vmware. But i cant seem to connect the wireless adapter realtek to the vm machine. It doesnt give me an option where i want to to use the usbadapter it just automaticly connects to the main machine. I tried to find the usb drive to eject it but it doesnt show in the gui home directory. And it doesnt appear in the /dev directory either. When i input iwconfig inside popos it reads it perfectly. Im sure im making some silly rookie error. Could you guide me to the right direction please. Thanks

First try to enable monitor mode using the method shown in the resources of lecture 13.
Also try disconnecting a different client, and try using a larger deauth number such as 15 or even 25.

If that didn’t work, then please, can you tell me the model of your wireless adapter?
