Hey Diego, thank you for that heads up, it really helped. I downloaded version v1.0.13.1 and started reinstalling tools. I installed Storm Breaker with no issues, I installed Fluxion with no issues, and then I installed Empire. I haven’t had a chance to test it, but when i start the Server to see if it will run I get these errors:

I see that in Zaid’s video lesson on Empire it shows csharpserver running properly, but here I get an error; also there’s the [No such file or directory found: ‘dotnet’] and [Plugin failed to run csharpserver]. Are these errors something that needs fixing? You can also see at the bottom of the terminal window there is no EMPIRE TEAM SERVER bar with Agents and Listeners displayed…. the cursor is just stopped there and blinks. Here’s a screenshot of the bar on the 2022 Custom Kali version:

I have once again purged/deleted Custom Kali 2024 version and started again from scratch with a completely new download – fourth time I have done this:(

I have been spending many frustrating hours trying to update the new Custom Kali 2024 with tools I had in the older version, as well as trying to go through the Learn Network Hacking Intermediate course (because I have already done the Learn Ethical Hacking from Scratch course), and I need to have Fluxion working properly so that I can continue my learning past Lesson 7.2. I am in limbo and cannot go any further at this point until I get these issues resolved. Can you please help me?Ross
Diego…… I am so frustrated. I spend 20% of my time trying to watch the lessons and learn the techniques… and 80% of my time is wasted trying to make the tools work as they should. Since I have updated the Custom Kali version to the 2024 image, I have tried to re-install everything I had worked hard to debug and make work properly before…. the VM machine has broken so many times, I have had to delete and reinstall it so many times that this has just gotten me down. I get so many errors during the installation process for Empire, for The Fat Rat, for Fluxion, and others etc…. that I just give up. None of those tools are actually working for me in the new version. Now I can’t even get Empire installed, so there is no point asking me for screen shots because I can’t even get to where I can launch a practice attack with it. I have looked online for help but there’s a zillion different answers to everything and they all create other problems, I have used chatGPT but that hasn’t really helped either – I am not an experienced computer programmer, I have not taken any Computer Science courses – so I can’t really apply any of my own skills to fixing these issues, and submitting screen shots and posts on this Forum is just taking way too long and is way too cumbersome with vague answers and tips that reflect the assumption that I know more than I really do, in order to really get anything solved in a reasonable amount of time. What I need is tools… and download/installation instructions that actually work! By the time I get anything sorted out I have lost my thread in keeping up with the lesson material anyway, and I end up just skipping forward without having the benefit of actually properly managing any testing in my Hacking Lab. Not a great way to learn. I started along this path because I was intrigued by the topic and interested in exploring possibilities with a subject I love – computers… but “Learning From Scratch” as the courses were described… well that’s not quite right!
Hi Diego, I have attached links to the screenshots of my Empire session. As you can see in the upper terminal window (server) it just stops at that point and does not continue further. No error messages (except for the csharpserver error, which I also get on the 2022 version as well but it still works properly), but it does not continue to a status bar at the bottom displaying agents etc. I have purged and reinstalled the 2024 zSecurity custom Kali 3 times, and there is no difference… I get this every time. I try to run the attack anyway, but no connection is ever made. It just hangs at this point, and goes no further.

This exact same process works perfectly using the custom zSecurity Kali 2022 machine.

Hello again,
I just want to let you know that I tried the WPA/WPA2 cracking attack on the exact same network, with the exact same command strings… but on my Intel Mac and it worked!!! I originally had been working on my Mac M1 and that’s where I was having problems… but for some reason, when I switched machines to the Mac Intel I7 – even though I’m using the same versions of the zSecurity Custom Kali, now it seems to work fine and it has no problem capturing the handshake. Thanks for your suggestions so far… at this point, I’ve got this! Cheers,Ross
OK Diego, sorry I thought you wanted the Router info:
– The adapter is a Realtek RTL8812AU which I purchased from you guys on the zSecurity Shop. As I said, it is running in Monitor Mode.
– No I am NOT running a WEP attack. I am taking this Intermediate Network Hacking course because I have already completed the (prerequisite) beginner’s Learn Ethical Hacking From Scratch course on Udemy. The Intermediate course I am doing now picks up WPA/WPA2 Cracking in Section 5 and beginning of Section 6… and it assumes YOU ALREADY HAVE CAPTURED THE HANDSHAKE in the wpa_handshake.cap file…. Zaid does not show you how to do this because he assumes you have already learned how to do that in the Beginner’s course. The problem is… that I have followed Zaid’s lectures in the beginner’s course on WPA/WPA2 cracing, and Capturing the Handshake (Lessons 22, 27, 28 and 29)…. but I am just not able to capture the handshake and the WPS method doesn’t work on my Router. The wpa_handshake capture file never seems to have any data in it. I showed you the messages displayed in my Kali machine in the screenshots I sent you. this is the WPA/WPA2 (NOT WEP) attack I keep trying without success:
– airodump-ng wlan0
– on upper screen: airodump-ng –bssid <target MAC> –channel <channel #> –write wpa_handshake wlan0
– on lower screen: aireplay-ng –deauth 4 -a <target MAC> -c <connected client MAC> wlan0
and no handshake is ever captured. My network name WiFione and as you can see from the screenshots, the MAC keeps changing… sometimes I can’t find a connected client because the target MAC has now changed.
And Diego… I cannot get ANY CLOSER to the Router…. I am literally 3 feet away from it, it’s sitting right in front of me.
Please help, otherwise I am not going to be able to continue with the course… this is one subject I just can’t skip in order to move forward. Thank you,Ross

Hi Diego, my Router unfortunately does not come with a lot of information… I believe it was built for my internet provider and so has their own logo and info on it: the brand is not given but I did some digging and I believe it’s Arcadya. The model listed is Telus WiFi Hub… but I think this is just the aftermarket model number they put on it. I’m attaching some screenshots of the process… tried many ways, but it always fails to capture the handshake, even though it says “Association Successful”. There is nothing written in the wap_handshake.cap file.
PS. I have submitted this reply twice now, with screenshots attached, and gotten confirmation from your webpage… but when I return to it to view it I don’t see it on the post
Hi Diego, thanks for that advice. I get the Script Editor issue…. I need to kill the process from Kali first. As for the IP drifting issue, I am not sure what you mean by “check it out”. I have looked at the settings for my router – it has a 2.4GHz, 5GHz-Low and 5GHz-High settings… and pages and pages of Network LAN, LAN DHCP, WAN, Bridge, DMZ, Dynamic DNS etc etc etc settings that I don’t quite understand. Is this an issue about setting up Static vs Dynamic IPs? Could you give me a bit more specific guidance with this… I feel a bit lost with the tech aspect of this device operation, and I am not very savvy with all the configuration options. Is this not a wifi adapter issue? Would using a different model adapter fix this problem?
