    Dear Sir or Madam,
As you may know I am doing to Python & Ethical Hacking course. Recently, I re-installed my virtual machine to fix the “SMBus controller is disable” error which was preventing my Kali Linux VM from booting. After a few days, everything was working flawlessly but today when I booted Kali, it didn’t have an internet connection. When I tried to browse the internet via the pre-installed Firefox browser, I was unable to do this action. I decided to check also my Windows 10 VM and when I booted it, I noticed that the internet works without any issue. Thank you a lot for your help in advance! Have a nice day!

    Hi!

Can you show the results of:
ifconfig and route -n in kali
Can you share a screenshot of the Network settings used in VMware for kali?

    Thanks!
    Diego

    Hi Diego,
I am sorry for answering your questions about my issues with my internet connection of the Kali Linux virtual machine. Sometimes the internet connection works and sometimes it does not. When I run the ifconfig command, it does not show the eth0 interface. Instead of it, it shows me the lo interface. Previously, I decided to run “ifconfig eth0 up” and then it shows up but I am still not getting am internet connection and also I would like to mention that when I run the “route -n” command while I am not having an internet connection, it does not show any gateway IP address. Thank you a lot again for your help in advance!

    Greetings

PS: I would also like to share a photo of the network settings of my Kali VM.

    Hi!

Do you have an antivirus installed in your host? I mean other than defender. If not then disable the firewall before starting kali and try it again.

    Greetings!
    Diego

    Hi Diego,
I use Windows as my host OS and I use Windows Defender and Avast Free Antivirus. I would like to also mention that my Windows VM which is also in VMware has an internet connection.

    Hi!

Did you try what I said? Kali is a hacking tool so some AVs will flag it as malware, while a windows virtual machine is inoffensive from an AV perspective.

    Greetings!
    Diego

    Hi Diego,
I am using Avast Free Antivirus and to fix the issue, I decided to re-install my VM. Sometimes the internet is working just fine so I don’t think the problem was because of the Windows Defender. Can I also ask you if there is a Kali Linux customized by zSecurity VM image but for Oracle VirtualBox. Because I would like to switch from VMWare to Oracle VirtualBox. Thank you again for your help!

    Greetings,

    Hi!

There’s no virtualbox image, the latest custom kali si for VMware only.

    Greetings!
    Diego
