Do you mean that sometimes kali gets stuck in such window and you need to reboot your host machine?

It is very unlikely that the file downloaded from the official website is infected. You can connect to a different network and try it again. It is also possible that Virustoal flags it as malware just because it is a tool to access the TOR network.Greetings!

Fatrat hasn’t been updated in a while, but it is still working fine. This is because it relies mostly on the metasploit framework, which is likely to be the latest version, among other tools. I checked their GitHub repo, and the latest version is 1.9.8. Maybe you installed an old version by mistake. So, try it again.Greetings!

There’s no need to install mitmf, it is outdated and wont work as expected. It is not used in any course anymore.
And geany is part of the kali repositories. Make sure kali is properly connected to internet and that the apt update command doesn’t return any error. Then, you should be able to install geany using the apt install geany command.Greetings!
