ParticipantHello, I’ve recently started this course and am enjoying it. I am having problems setting up the VM Trace Labs machine on my MacBook Air M1. I have VMWare installed from my previous courses with Kali and Windows 11, but there isn’t a link to download the Trace Labs package to VMWare. I have tried to install the Virtualbox environment from the link provided but it does not seem to be available for M! machines… only for Intel Macs. Can you please suggest an alternative method of getting that set up on my computer? Otherswise…. what are my options at this point in the course…..

ModeratorHi!
Did you try to use the .ISO M1 file that Tracelabs provided? Or which one did you use?Greetings!

ParticipantHi Diego,
I tried both links that are provided in Lesson 12.1. One is for Virtual Box VM and the other is: tl-osint-2024.2-vmware-amd64.7z
The VirtualBox .ova link will not run on my M1, I get a message that it is the wrong architecture. I tried downloading Virtual Box from that download link provided but it gives me an error, I suspect because it’s meant for an Intel machine. I tried both links provided for the Trace Labs OSINT-VM and I cannot open it. I tried to go directly to the Trace Labs site and they do show an M1 version… but after I download it, it will not open, and I cannot get my VMWare to open it even though I try to select it manually from my Downloads file in Finder. This is the M1 file link on their website (but not listed in the Lesson 12.1 resources): TL OSINT VM ISO – M1 Mac.
I have downloaded this file many times and deleted it and tried again…. but it just will not open. When I click on it in Finder, nothing happens….. nothing. - AuthorPosts
