Hey there, I’ve been trying to find a secure solution to run some viruses, and because I heard that viruses can sometimes escape virtual machines, I thought about flashing a live OS onto a USB, and running a VM there. Would that be more secure? Would this VM on a USB-OS be reasonably far away/detached from the personal data on my PC?

    Hi!
That will depend on the virus itself, there’s no an straight answer for that, in general you can run it safely in a virtual machine but as mentioned it will depend on the virus and what it does. Things like reverse shells or even ransomeware can be run in a virtual machine safely.

    Greetings!
    Diego
