To be able to connect with real devices you need a wireless adapter, do you have one?
You will need it as well to get a connection from devices outside the network, for this you need to set port forwarding rules in your router and use your public ip in the backdoor.

And as long as the devices are connected to the same router then it doesn’t matter if it’s a wired or wireless connection, the network is the same.

I got myself the zsecurity wireless adapter, downloaded kali and vmware via the provided links and set the vm up as instructed. But when I try to prepaare the vm for the wireless adapter, the “add” button down in the settings of the vm in the “memory”-section cannot be clicked. I tried reinstalling, didn’t work for me.
I would appreciate an answer, thanks in advance

Well, if you don’t have a wireless adapter then there won’t be any wlan0 interface. In such case you can try the code with the eth0 interface but it will lose internet connection after changing the mac address, that’s normal because it’s a virtual interface but if the code works then you cna move on.

By default any adapter will accept a new mac address that begins with 00, but it depends on the adapter itself. So you can try to use any other number combination and check if the adapter accepts it or not.

As mentioned in the course requirements you need an external wireless adapter for the cracking lectures 11 to 28, you can do everything else without one though (from lecture 30 and on), just make sure you set Kali to use a Nat Network as shown in lecture 5 and skip the part where I add my external wireless card.
The built in card is not good for hacking, you need a powerful card that supports monitor mode and packet injection, I recommend anything with an Atheros or RTL8812AU chipset.

I don’t know what the chipset in the adapter is, brother. Sorry, this is all new to me and I’m hapless when it comes to tech. If there’s a way to know what the chipset is, please let me know and I’ll look into it.

I looked on FCCID.io (https://fccid.io/2AKC6XHT-WF5B) and got a bunch of pages of info that I can’t make heads or tails of. XD

Honestly, Diego, if you can just recommend a dual-band wireless adapter that you know will work, I would really appreciate it. I don’t mind buying another adapter/the one that best works with the course when I can afford it.

Sorry for putting this question here. I enrolled into this course on a different site (udemy) and can’t post the question on the forum here.

My question is about wireless wi-fi adaptors.

I purchased a Techkey, Drive-free, dual-band wireless adapter (FCC ID: 2AKC6XHT-WF5B).

I tried using it with Linux to follow along with the lectures but I couldn’t see it in the USB drop-down menu.

My questions is:

Is this Techkey wireless adaptor compatible with Linux or is the issue is that I failed to connect it correctly?

Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

According to the official documentation there’s no information related to the RTL8812BU chipset:

When I successfully boot tails from my USB in the upper right hand corner where it is supposed to recognize available wifi/wired networks there is not option to select any networks in the drop down. It is not recognizing any adapter I try. Do I need to install drivers in tails first? My tails is working great because I tried it on an old laptop and was able to connect to the internet via the laptop’s internal wifi adapter.

I have purchased your “Ultimate Dark Web” course and I’ve successfully installed tails on a usb drive. I cannot find a good wifi adapter that will work with tails. I have reviewed the forum and various links provided and even bought from the “accepted” tails usb wifi adapter list. I have purchased the three following wifi adapters with no success:

I’m stuck and not sure how to proceed. Any advice or guidance would be much appreciated.

Did it used to work? Or why did you keep going on if it doesn’t? I’ll suggest to forget about ssl at the moment because it need to work for http sites first. So maybe start it over again, I mean watch the lectures in this section again.
