What is Intrusion Detection System (IDS)?

An IDS analyzes incoming and outgoing traffic and alerts administrators of suspicious activity. It can be signature-based (detecting known threats) or anomaly-based (flagging unusual behavior). IDS tools play a vital role in identifying early signs of compromise and enhancing overall threat detection capabilities.
