Hi there,
I have a Windows 10 machine.
It has a intel Gen 3 GPU. However when I run hashcat using the GPU, it shows the message below and hangs
The message = “Initializing backend runtime for device #2. Please be patient…”
I waited for sometime and it just quit without carrying out any operation.
I have searched all sort of solutions online but still could not fix it.
The full message is:
PS C:\Users\user\hashcat-6.2.3> .\hashcat.exe -m 22000 -d 2 .\14577_1628336864.hc22000 ‘..\shared folder\wifi_wordlist_8_digits\10000000-19999999.txt’

It seems like your GPU card is not compatible with hashcat, or it might be overheating. Did you install the needed drivers?Greetings!

I didn’t install the driver because I thought if the -I command shows the GPU, it means the driver is being installed/recognized.
So, I should install a driver even if hashcat shows the GPU with -I command, right?
August 9, 2021 at 11:01 pm #57493StanleyParticipantCould I run hashcat on a mac instead?

Yes, as mentioned in the lecture you have to install the needed drivers.According to the developer this can be used in mac as well, but you will also need the supported drivers installed. Check their main site to know which drivers to install:
But you need to check if your GPU is supported:
